05.04.2024 from Tim Rice
As a Bloodbiker I ride in all areas and in all weathers. I had learned before I started this that the Metzeler tyre was excellent in both wet and dry conditions. the effect is that you are always riding the same bike with the same performance characteristics - on previous bikes it felt that i was riding a different bike whenever it rained compared to when it was dry. On aa advanced skills training day, one of the instructors ran up to check what tyres I had fitted as he was surprised at the way my bike handled and could stop in shorter distances than most of the other bikes. On my main bike, this is now the fourth or fifth set I have fitted, and when I bought another bike, there was no doubt in what tyres I had fitted straight away, with these being the automatic choice for my daughter's bike too.

Using Metzler tyres on my bike gives me confidence whatever the weather. Too many other brands behave differently in the wet vs dry - it can be like having two different bikes on the same journey. You don't sacrifice longevity with the Metzler either, with 9-12,000 miles per set (15,000km+. That's better than some other brands.). Their latest compound seems to have gone back to what they used a few years ago and the grip quality has improved (it had been deteriating over the last couple of versions - still better than other makes, but not the same as they made 5-6 years ago. As I volunteer to deliver blood products, I'm out in all weathers, throughout the year, so the performance of my tyres is vitally important. the Meltzer's do deliver!
02.01.2020 from Alun Barry
On my second set of Z8s, they don't fail to impress, good alround tyre

Tyre heats up quickly even in wet conditions giving good grip and feel on road . Giving you confidence to drive to your own style . Bought both front and rear tyres before as feel safe on bike with them fitted they only tyre that will be on my bike
24.02.2014 from Robert Harrison
When replacing it I'll probably opt for the newer Sportsmart.
16.01.2013 from Terence Morton
This is a really great tyre. I was so confident with it that i used it to travel down to Cheshire for a track day.Grip was more than capable to make me terrythetortoise look fast.
13.01.2011 from Steven
Fast Street and Weekend mountain rides. No track as this is not a track tyre. Brilliant grip and feedback, very stable. Neutral handling. Confident in the wet. Suprisingly comfortable with decent mileage

In my experience as an Advanced Riding Instructor these tyres are fantastic whether making 'serious' progress, touring or popping into town. I have used PR3s and PR4s for many years due to their grip levels in all conditions and their high mileage.
12.02.2021 from Chris Roberts
32 years car, 35 years Motorcycles on road and race tracks, various off road riding. Rode with these on a day out with Cleveland Police Force Motorcycle Division. They were on the same tyres, all round they are incredible.
24.11.2020 from Les Satchwell
Have used these tyres on various bikes ,they are excellent for my needs, will continue to use them as long as they are available
27.09.2020 from Dominic Barber
Fitted Pilot Road 4s almost a year ago now and have done a lot of touring and commuting on them in all seasons. They've never let me down. Feel significantly more nimble than the previous Metzlers, dropping in quicker and almost popping from leaning one way to the other. Though to be fair the flat spot in the old ones probably made them feel worse than they would have done new.

I have had nothing but puncture after puncture with Pirelli. 2 Rosso 2’s and even worse Rosso 3’s x2, too soft for British road’s but I am held to ransom as I can’t get Michelin’s in the size any more for some reason.
23.12.2021 from Sean
Good grip wet & dry(>10degC) and reasonable feedback, mainly used on fast A and twisty B roads. Ride quite hard so only about 2500 miles from rear tyre, about double for front. Comparable to other tyres, is Michelin road smart 4

after the previous set that was metzeler roadtec 01 I have return to Michelin Pilot road 5 because they last a bit longer even though I've spent extra £50 . excellent tyre
01.09.2020 from Chris Stav
Extremely good in dry conditions. A bit of a "twich" a couple of times round bends in the wet but quickly corrected. They are comfortable and good mileage ( these are my second set). Still cannot get rid of the last 1 inch chicken strip - never had these problem with the Pirelli Angel - I blame the profile :-) Very good tyres. Second pair so far... no more to say
24.03.2020 from Rory McFarlane
I’ve ridden on many tyres but I thought I’d spend a bit more and get the Michelin road 5, I first went out when it was pouring with rain and I was astounded! The level of grip was unbelievable, the lean angle you can get was incredible, just like riding in the dry, I’m always hard on the brakes (comes from track racing) and believe me you can get the back wheel off the floor in the wet, don’t just whack them on the let the suspension compress first. Anyway enough rattling on, Amazing road tyres 👍

Grippy grippy grippy!!! Especially once warm, which doesn't take long at all.
30.08.2009 from Sascha
The BEST Tires I ever had on my motorcycles!!! Incredible grip and many reserves, sticks on the asphalt like a chewing gum, also at low air temps. Feels also good under wet conditions. Definitely the best tire recommendation for street racing and also for a few track days. Pressure used on the street: 2,1-2,2 bar front and 2,0-2,2 bar rear. Profile after 2500 km: 1,2-1,6 mm front & 1,0-1,6 mm rear.

28.03.2022 from Bob Fisher
I am in the older age category but still like riding enthusiastically. I live in the northern part of the UK with some brilliant twisty roads, usually well surfaced and reasonably quiet of traffic. These are the roads I like, where I can enjoy myself. Don't take all of the star ratings as accurate as some are not fully tested but they inspire trust and confidence. Also fitted to my VFR800
23.02.2022 from Mark
The front gives way under cornering with no warning. On at least two occasions under normal cornering and not heavy or fast, the tyre has lost grip. I was lucky to manage to keep the bile from dropping. i usually cover about 8000 - 1000 miles a year in all conditions. I used the RoadTec 01 in the past and they were a better all round tyre, the new SE seems to be lacking in feedback. I would use the RoadTec 01 again but not the SE.
11.12.2021 from Chris
20yrs riding experience. Have 3 bikes currently. Live in NE Scotland. Very confident dry riding fast where safe to do so but cautious in the Scottish wet slippy roads.

Predictable grip in the wet and dry. Seem to not wear quite as well compared to previous Bridgestones, but grip a bit better in the wet on my ‘98 GSX 750, I am not a GP rider but then again, this isn’t a ‘lightweight’ 500 twin either, when riding something like this, you have to mean it and don’t want to be let down by cheapo ‘India Rubber brands’ half way round a corner. These are far better than anything that was available when the bike was new as are all mainstream brands. So far, I can’t fault them. Generally speaking, really sticky tyres wear out quick on heavier bikes and long life tyres don’t grip. These seem to have dual compound characteristics??
14.08.2024 from Paul Knowles
Absolute perfection. These tyres inspire confidence! Superb handling and braking characteristics. The make my bike feel lighter and more agile. I run them 3psi higher than rated on my machine and they feel great. Very happy with the tyres and I’ll by them again and they have now become my go to tyre!
07.08.2024 from Marcio Cunha

Among so many brand. I would say Roadtac 01 giving me the most confident especially on rainy day where roads are wet. even on a slight bending also good. Perhaps its due to its aqua cutting thread design.
02.09.2020 from Andy Broad
These tyres are good to ride on & even work in the cold & wet pretty well, however they don't last. 5k miles from an expensive touring tyre is crap in my opinion. I get about 50% more mileage & the bike rides even better on Avon Storm 3DXM that I've swapped to since wearing this out. 6/10 - Must try harder Metzeler.
